News (from MN Girls BB Recruit)

7:45 PM: Rogers (#2AAA) vs. Lakeville North (unranked)

The Royals (17-2) are on a roll, winning 12 games in a row. They use a disciplined offense and defense that has allowed them to dictate tempo in all the games they have played. Jennifer Dowd and Casey Mann give the Royals a 1-2 perimeter punch opposing teams have trouble stopping. The Royals aren't deep, but have managed so far to remain consistent. Lakeville North (11-8) has been up and down this season. After a 9-2start, the Panthers lost six in row. They have plenty of talent as6-4 Cassie Rochel anchors the middle. Kaiya Sygulla and freshmen Rachel Banhem should create a great perimeter contest versus Mann and Dowd. It should be an interesting game between traditionally strong programs.

Rogers key wins: Becker (twice), Osseo, STMA. Lakeville North key wins: Kennedy, Rochester Lourdes, Rochester Mayo.

Varsity on KARE 11 for drug-free pledge

The Panther varsity girls basketball team was recently featured on KARE 11, the local NBC-TV affiliate for the Twin Cities, about its pledge to be drug free. They wear red shoelaces during the games to show their commitment. The program is called "Pure Performance" and was started by school officials and local police.

Results of the Eastview Game

Just finished reading about the Eastview game on the gbbrecruit log. Their perspective was that it was a hard fought game with nothing given up easy on either side. Turns out too that the person who was scouting regularly writes down the clock time on all game stops. Remember the confusion at the tail end of the game as to how much time should be put back on the clock. The real answer?? 26.9. Not that it would have changed the whole game, but that, along with the refs who were so chatty with the Eastview coach and then helping up McSparron when she was on the ground... just kind of leaves an unsettled feeling. Chaska is now in the Minnesota top 10 too. Long tough week for our girls, with finals on top of the two big games. A weekend of rest and then we'll be off to Eden Prairie. Looking forward to it...

Oh, by the way... in case you've been under a rock for the last couple of days... Eastview beat us by a few points.
